So does that convince you?
Research showed that those who took personal insults while upright exhibited brain activity linked to attacking but this urge disappeared when they took the same insults lying down.
Eddie Harmon-Jones, a cognitive scientist who led the study at Texas A&M University, said: “In the upright or leaning forward state one might be more likely to attack.
“Maybe in the reclining state you’re more likely to brood.”
Those who took part in the study were not warned that they were participating in an anger exercise. The researchers asked them to pick something which made them cross, such as abortion or public smoking, and write a brief essay on their stance.
They were then hooked up to a machine which measures brain activity and told that a person in an adjacent room would evaluate the essay. Read the rest of this entry
Chapter on the sitting of Rasulullah S.A.W.
Taken from Shama’il at-Tirmidhi
This chapter contains 3 ahadeeth
► It is narrated from Qaylah bint Makhramah R.A. that she saw the Prophet of Allaah S.A.W. in the mosque (in a very humble posture) sitting in a ‘qarfasaa’ position. And due to his awe-inspiring personality, she began shivering.
Commentary:
It has a da’eef isnaad. Scholars have differed regarding this; most commonly known among them is, sitting on the ground, lift both thighs in an upright position, and fold both arms around the legs. This hadith has been elaborated on in the chapter of dressing of Rasulullah S.A.W. Read the rest of this entry
Chapter on the Qina’ of Rasulullah S.A.W.
Taken from Shama’il at-Tirmidhi
This chapter contains 1 hadith
► It is narrated from Anas bin Malik R.A. that the Prophet of Allaah S.A.W. often wore a cloth on his auspicious head. This cloth, due to it’s greasiness, looked as if it had been oiled.

Chapter on the walking of Rasulullah S.A.W.
Taken from Shama’il at-Tirmidhi
This chapter contains 3 ahadeeth
►It is narrated from Abu Hurairah R.A. that he did not see anyone more handsome than the Prophet of Allaah Muhammad S.A.W. It was as if the luminosity of the sun had shone from his auspicious face. Abu Hurairah R.A. did not see anyone walk faster than the Messenger of Allaah S.A.W., (it looked) as if the earth had folded for him. A few moments ago, he’d be here, and then there. The companions R.A. found it difficult to keep pace with him while they walked with him, and he walked at his normal pace.
Commentary:
It is a da’eef hadith (but it’s hasan due to support from other sources). The Prophet of Allaah S.A.W. used to walk swiftly at a normal pace hence his companions R.A. could only with effort keep up with him.
Surah Luqman sums it up nicely for us “And turn not your face away from men with pride, nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, Allâh likes not each arrogant boaster”
“And be moderate (or show no insolence) in your walking..”
Allaah dislikes the person who walks haughtily around the earth.
Chapter on the Izaar of Rasulullah S.A.W.
Taken from Shama’il at-Tirmidhi
This chapter contains 4 ahadeeth
►It is narrated from Abu Burdah bin Musa al-Ash’ari R.A. that Ayesha R.A. showed them a patched sheet, and a thick coarse Izaar and then said that when the Prophet of Allaah S.A.W. passed away he was wearing these clothes.
Commentary:
It is a sahih narration, also narrated in Sahih Bukhari and Muslim. It was the habit of the Prophet of Allaah to wear simple clothes. The economical situation of the Muslims had vastly improved especially after the conquest of Khaibar, and, after the conquest of Makkah, the kings from different countries started sending in presents. Even then nothing changed the lifestyle of our beloved Prophet of Allaah S.A.W.
Muhammad S.A.W. did not hoard on the gifts that he used to get, but rather, he distributed them among the people. Islaam disapproves wearing the clothes of ostentation. The dress worn for fame in this world will become a source of humiliation on the day of Judgement.
