Ramadhan Reminder – 14

Giving Preference Over Themselves Even Though They Were In Need Of That
———————————————————————————————————-
Abu Hurayrah said, “A man came to the Prophet and said, ‘O Allah’s Messenger! Poverty has struck me.’ The Prophet sent a messenger to his wives (to bring something for that man to eat) but they said that they had nothing.

“Then Allah’s Messenger said, ‘Who will invite this person or entertain him as a guest tonight; may Allah grant His mercy to him who does so.’ An Ansari man said, ‘I, O Allah’s Messenger!’ So he took him to his wife and said to her, ‘Entertain the guest of Allah’s Messenger generously.’ She said, ‘By Allah ! We have nothing except the meal for my children.’ He said, ‘Let your children sleep if they ask for supper. Then turn off the lamp and we go to bed tonight while hungry.’ She did what he asked her to do.”

“In the morning the Ansari went to Allah’s Messenger who said, ‘Allah wondered (favorably) or laughed at the action of so-and-so and his wife.’ Then Allah revealed, ‘And they give them preference over themselves even though they were in need of that.’ (Surah al-Hashr:9)”

In another narration for this Hadith, the Companion’s name was mentioned, it was Abu Talhah Al-Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him

Ramadhan Reminder – 13

No slave is afflicted with anxiety and grief and then says

“O Allaah I am your slave son of your male slave, the son of your female slave, my forehead is in your Hand, and Your judgment upon me is assured, and whatever You have decreed for me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You, which You have named Yourself, or You have revealed in Your Book, or You taught one of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of that Name with You in the Unseen, I ask You that You make the Qur’aan the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, a banisher for my grief and a reliever for my anxiety”

except that Allaah will remove his distress and replace it with joy.

The Prophet صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم was asked “O Messenger of Allaah should we not learn this?
He صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم said, “Certainly! It is proper and befitting for the one who hears of this supplication that they learn it.”

[Musnad Ahmad & Ibn Hibban]

And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)

Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: “Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.”

They are those on whom are the Salawat (i.e. blessings, etc.) (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided-ones. (Surah al Baqarah)

Ramadhan Reminder – 12

The Prophet Muhammad saws.gif said:

“He who performs Fajr Salaat with Jamaat and remains seated in the same place
while engaging in Dhikr until after sunrise
and thereafter
performs 2 Rakaats of Ishraaq,
he will obtain the reward of one Hajj and one Umrah.”

[Tirmidhi]

Ramadhan Reminder – 11

When was the last time we cried or remembered Our beloved Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. while hearing the Adhaan?

When was the last time we actually remembered the purpose of this Call to Prayer in such a manner?

..and did we follow the Adhaan with a Duaa’..?

-The Call Of Bilal And The Tears Of Al Sham-

——————————————————-
It is reported that Bilâl – Allâh be pleased with him – never used to call the adhân for anyone after the death of Allâh’s Messenger – Allâh’s peace and blessing be upon him. He wanted to go for al-jihâd but Abû Bakr didn’t want him to go. So Bilâl said, “If you freed me [when I was a slave] for Allâh’s pleasure, then let me go.” So he went to Al-Shâm. When ‘Umar arrived in Al-Jâbiyah [during his Caliphate], the Muslims requested him to ask Bilâl to do the adhân for them, so ‘Umar asked him. He called the adhân one day, and never were as many people heard crying as on that day, as they remembered the Prophet – Allâh’s peace and blessing be upon him.It is said that the adhân of the people of Al-Shâm was taken from this adhân.

Ramadhan Reminder – 10

Quran Bearers: Nobles of this Ummah

Imam al-Jazari’s praise for the Qur’an bearer – taken from the Muqaddimah of ‘Tayyibat al-Nashr.’

A person is not honoured or raised
Except by what he knows and has memorised

For that reason the bearers of Qur’an
Are the nobles of this Ummah and its righteous

And they are the people of Allah amongst Mankind *
And indeed our Lord has boasted of them

He spoke of them in the Qur’an, and it is sufficient
That He gives it (the Qur’an) to those He has chosen **

And in the Hereafter, it is an ardent intercessor
And its statement is something surely heard

By it a person is given the dominion and immortality
And likewise, he is given the crown of honour

He’ll read and ascend the ranks of Paradise by it
And his parents will also be clothed by it

So let a person strive to attain it
And let him never tire of its recitation.

____

* Due to the hadith: ‘Indeed Allah has people from amongst Mankind. The people of Qur’an, they are the people of Allah and His Specialties.’ [Ahmad, Ibn Majah]

** Due to the verse in Soorah Fatir:

ثُمَّ أَوْرَثْنَا الْكِتَابَ الَّذِينَ اصْطَفَيْنَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا فَمِنْهُمْ ظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِ وَمِنْهُم مُّقْتَصِدٌ وَمِنْهُمْ سَابِقٌ بِالْخَيْرَاتِ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَضْلُ الْكَبِيرُ

“Then We gave the Book for inheritance to such of Our slaves whom We chose…” [Fatir: 32]

*** Due to the hadith: ‘The Qur’aan will meet its companion on the Day of Resurrection when his grave is opened for him, in the form of a pale man. It will say to him, ‘Do you recognize me?’ He will say: ‘I do not recognize you.’ It will say: ‘I am your companion the Qur’aan, who kept you thirsty on hot days and kept you awake at night. Every merchant benefits from his business and today you will benefit from your good deeds.’ He will be given dominion in his right hand and eternity in his left, and there will be placed on his head a crown of dignity, and his parents will be clothed with priceless garments the like of which have never been seen in this world. They will say: ‘Why have we been clothed with this?’ It will be said: ‘Because your son used to recite Qur’aan.’ Then it will be said to him: ‘Recite and ascend in the degrees of Paradise,’ and he will continue to ascend so long as he recites, either at a fast pace or a slow pace.’ [Ahmad, Ibn Majah]
