Ramadhan Reminder – 27

You have 6 hours…

Abu Umaamah (radhiyaAllaahu anhu) reported from the Messenger of Allaah (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallam) who said:

إِنَّ صَاحِبَ الشَّمَالِ لَيَرفَعُ الْقَلَمَ سِتَّ سَاعَاتٍ عَنِ الْعَبْدِ الْمُسْلِمِ الْمُخْطِئ – أَوْ الْمُسِيء – ، فَإِنْ نَدِمَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ اللهَ مِنْهَا أَلْقَاهَا ، وَإِلاَّ كُتِبَتْ وَاحِدَهً

“The occupier of the left; raises [and holds] his pen for six hours –from the Muslim servant [of Allaah] who has wronged or committed a mistake- ; so if he regrets and seeks Allaah’s forgiveness from it: he returns it back, and if that is not the case; then it is written as one.”

Source: Mu’jam al-Kabeer: 7765, Saheeh Jam’i as-Sagheer: 2097 – Sheikh Albaanee rahimahullah said it is hasan.

Lessons & Benefits:

- Proof that there are Angels scribing the deeds of each one of us.

- Affirmation that there are two different Angels; one on the right [for the good deeds], and one on the left [for the sins].

- The importance of hastening onto the forgiveness of Allaah.

- The great importance of regretting from committing sins – and that it is a large part of- seeking forgiveness and/or repentance.

- The great, encompassing mercy of Allaah: such that we have six hours before the sin is written.

- The great, encompassing mercy of Allaah: such that a sin is only written as one, and not multiplied. While the good deeds are multiplied from ten up to seven hundred times.

Child Education in Islam

This book outlines the basic Islamic concepts in child education. The author has tried to coordinate the main ideas, as well as the basics precepts for raising Muslim children in all the different spheres of life. First of all, the importance of correct belief and faith cannot be inculcated in young children except through the teaching and example of their parents; and obviously, the role of the mature and religious mother is foremost. This state of harmony can only be achieved when matrimonial relations are relatively stable. Care is to be taken in providing young children with all the necessary elements in the fields of ethical, physical and psychological education.

There will always remain a group..

“There will not cease to exist a group from my Ummah fighting upon the Command of Allah, subjugating their enemies. They will not be harmed by those who oppose them, until the Hour comes to them.”

Looking at other ahadeeth (in the same chapter of Rulership/Leadership in Sahih Muslim) we discover that:
_The group will be on the right path.
_Those who oppose them will not be able to cause any harm to them.

_They will continue to be victorious until the command of Allaah takes over them.
_The group will continue to fight until the hour is established.
_The group will remain victorious until the Day of Judgement.

So does that convince you?

Research showed that those who took personal insults while upright exhibited brain activity linked to attacking but this urge disappeared when they took the same insults lying down.

Eddie Harmon-Jones, a cognitive scientist who led the study at Texas A&M University, said: “In the upright or leaning forward state one might be more likely to attack.

“Maybe in the reclining state you’re more likely to brood.”

Those who took part in the study were not warned that they were participating in an anger exercise. The researchers asked them to pick something which made them cross, such as abortion or public smoking, and write a brief essay on their stance.

They were then hooked up to a machine which measures brain activity and told that a person in an adjacent room would evaluate the essay. Read the rest of this entry

Chapter on the sitting of Rasulullah S.A.W.

Taken from Shama’il at-Tirmidhi

This chapter contains 3 ahadeeth

► It is narrated from Qaylah bint Makhramah R.A. that she saw the Prophet of Allaah S.A.W. in the mosque (in a very humble posture) sitting in a ‘qarfasaa’ position. And due to his awe-inspiring personality, she began shivering.

Commentary:

It has a da’eef isnaad. Scholars have differed regarding this; most commonly known among them is, sitting on the ground,  lift both thighs in an upright position, and fold both arms around the legs. This hadith has been elaborated on in the chapter of dressing of Rasulullah S.A.W. Read the rest of this entry
